The inspiration behind Romikas began on our founder Rika Pinto’s 15th birthday, a day that sparked a journey into jewelry design. Her mother made an unforgettable entrance, wearing their family’s generational saree—a stunning creation of vibrant red, white, and gold embroidery—but with no jewelry to accompany it. When Rika asked why, her mother explained, “None of them matched.”

That simple answer led Rika to her mother’s collection of heirloom jewelry, pieces that represented decades of life’s most meaningful moments. Yet none of them complemented the saree’s rich hues. Rika’s mind raced: What if I could design jewelry that not only matches but also carries meaning—a new heirloom to cherish?

She quickly dove into research, sketching her first design and painting it with bold reds and golds. As she worked, she was transported to memories of shopping for Kundan jewelry with her mother, marveling at its craftsmanship and history. With her sketch complete, she felt the magic of combining culture, artistry, and sentiment.

This moment marked the beginning of Rika’s journey into jewelry design. She founded Romikas in 2020 with a vision of creating timeless, handcrafted jewelry that tells a story. What started as a passion project has now grown into a brand celebrated for its ability to blend modern elegance with the richness of tradition. Each piece is designed in the USA and meticulously crafted in India by skilled artisans, using the finest Kundan, polki, and other materials to create heirlooms meant to be treasured for generations.
